I am excited to participate in the 37th Annual The Ben to the Shore, which supports the Families Behind the Badge Children's Foundation! This will be my 4th year.
While I began supporting and riding for this worthy cause prior to 2022, it wasn’t until we lost my dear friend Steve Plum, K9 Officer with Warrington PD, in May of 2022 that this Foundation truly became near and dear to my heart. It was only four days after tragically and suddenly losing Steve that this Foundation stepped up and provided the Plum Family with an immediacy grant, aimed at helping the initial financial burden that comes with such a loss. In July of 2022 the Bucks Heroes team rode for Steve and even donned his memorial patch over our hearts.
I ride to raise money for families who are struck with this same loss. I ride for Steve. I ride for the Foundations’ other focus, connecting the youth of our communities to First Responders. I ride because this is a great community of cycling enthusiasts.
The Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation (FBBCF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit committed to improving the lives of children in the Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey area. We achieve this by providing necessary financial relief for the families of fallen or critically injured first responders (police officers, firefighters, EMTs) and cultivating positive relationships and interactions between police officers and the children in the communities they serve.
